The Maserati 250F was used in Formula One between 1954 and 1960 and was described by Stirling Moss as the best front engine Grand Prix car he ever raced. Juan Manuel Fangio won two World Championships in a 250F and he scored 6 of his 24 wins in various chassis.

This original starter which is works team equipment would have been used to start chassis 2514 and carries a chassis plate to identify it as belonging to that car. 2514 was raced as a factory entry by Luigi Musso, Jean Behra, Roberto Mieres and Andre Simon before it was sold to British privateer Horace Gould.

This starter was obtained by the consignor from Cameron Millar, the well known 250F owner, advocate and collector of works parts. Not used for many years it would require maintenance if it were to be used but otherwise represents a great display piece.

This lot is located in the United Kingdom.
