1977 Mario Andretti Lotus 78 Rear Wing
Lot 179 | Memorabilia Online - Part 1
This 1977 Lotus 78 rear wing was used by Mario Andretti throughout the 1977 Formula One season. In the iconic John Player Special livery, the wing carries the stickers for the wins he achieved in the season and was used up to the last race of the year in Japan where it picked up the obvious damage visible today. Andretti qualified on pole but had a terrible start and had a collision whilst trying to make his way back through the field.
The damaged wing was obtained direct from Colin Chapman by Lotus collector Bill Friend when he acquired a Lotus 78 (chassis 1) and comes with paperwork to support.
Beautifully painted and sign written, this amazing piece of memorabilia with Team Lotus and Mario Andretti history represents a great opportunity for Formula One collectors.
This lot is located in the United Kingdom.
