Mika Salo showed that when he had the right machinery he was capable of winning. In jut his second race for Ferrari subsituting for the injured Michael Schumacher he almost won the 1999 German Grand Prix, only coming second as he had to cede position to Eddie Irvine to support his fight for the World Championship. Also having raced for Lotus, Tyrrell, Arrows, BAR, Sauber and Toyota he had a varied career with many teams, whilst not matching his two podiums at Ferrari he did return to them for a very successful Le Mans Racing career with the marque. Winning the 24 hours of Le Mans in both 2008 and 2009.

This Bell KF1 helmet bearing paint number 2000-05 was painted by Bell Helmets and shows good signs of use. The helmet displays good signs of use. Multiple cable tie bases remain on the side of the helmet from the previous fitment of drinks tube and radio intercom wiring. Also protective tape to both sides of the helmet shows obvious aging.
